Not only has Crowfall (Fantasy EVE) funded, but its one of the most successful gaming Kickstarter campaigns in history. Again, who could have predicted Fantasy EVE was a thing people wanted… Glad it only took until the third month in 2015 for someone to cash in on that.
Now the long wait begins, although if alpha truly does start in the summer, its not exactly THAT long of a wait. And having donated at the alpha-tier, I’m good to go. Unlike every MMO since perhaps Shadowbane itself, I think I am going to follow this game closely as it develops, and will dive into alpha both because I want to play the game as soon as possible, but (assuming its not total garbage) also to help it get to were it needs to go.
Nice! I am in the beta line, but yeah I hope they are open with alpha testing and you can share all the things.
My friend SynCaine frequently argues that MMOs without a required subscription show a lack of confidence in themselves, knowing they are doomed to failure because they don’t have a game worth paying for. Sci Fi EVE doesn’t need an “optional subscription” model. GW2 is the current standard for “buy the box, no subscription required but we try to sell you things in-game.”
GW2 doesn’t have a sub option, and does have a cash shop that sells more than fluff, Crowfall will have a sub and (so they say now) fluff only cash shop. So…?
I’ll be shocked if this game is playable in a form resembling a finished product before 2017.
God I hate Kickstarter and Early Access games…
Well, without Kickstarter Crowfall likely doesn’t happen, so can’t agree there. Some of the ‘early access’ scams however, fully agree on that.
ehh.. it’s not really fantasy eve but whatever it is I’m glad they got funded. Shows there is an interest in PvP at least
That’s a topic I’ll revisit at a later date, the whole “what would fantasy EVE be”. Certainly on paper Crowfall isn’t 100% fantasy EVE, but I’m not willing to say it isn’t 60% right now either.
