The good news keeps on rolling, and I’m finally in the WAR beta.
The download is through a torrent, and as I’m not too familiar with that (don’t ask) I don’t really know if I have it set up correctly. I hooked the modem directly into the computer to bypass the router, but I’m averaging a download speed of around 50kb/s, which is way below what I should be getting. As recommended, I’m using uTorrent 1.8. Anyone have some quick tips on how to boost the speed?

I’m no expert on it, but torrent speeds are going to be dependent on all the other users in your swarm… watch it and it’ll fluctuate wildly as they come and go, and as the program looks for different pieces of the file from different sources. I’m getting anywhere from 30 to 100mbits/sec. It’s pretty much luck-of-the-draw.
One thing you might do is run a speed test (DSL Reports) from the Speed Guide menu and make sure you’re set correctly. That tells uTorrent how many users to try to connect to simultaneously.
I just keep reminding myself that the servers are down… ;)
I’m averaging around 60kb/s, with a port opened. It’s sad, but it gives me an excuse to take a day’s vacation from my computer and focus on other things.

No, unfortunately it really is that slow. There were periods of faster activity ( I think my final average was like 90), but it took just over 36 hours to download.
I must have gotten lucky…by bypassing my router I was able to manage between 100-200 kb/s. Maybe the weekend helped. It still took me forever to download though.
I’m averaging 40-60kbs with uTorrent as well. Good news is, the servers are down, and it should be done this evening (about 48 hours total). I’ve checked it a couple of times around 1AM while walking off cramps in my legs and it seems to speed up in the wee small hours (around 100kbs). No idea why.
