A lot of funny things happen when a large number of people are waiting for 6gigs to download, especially when they have been waiting a good number of months to get it. It’s also interesting to watch the feeding frenzy for info from those who finish the download first versus those who have yet to log in. Clearly the difference of a few hours after months of waiting is, well, a big deal.
Seeing such a high volume of ‘instant’ feedback is also very telling. From some already being disappointed with the graphics update (without actually seeing it…), to claiming “no fair” for those who are playing now, if there is an inkling of injustice (real or otherwise), you can bet someone made a thread about it.
It’s also a safe bet that people are going to make “but what about feature X that was promised!?” threads about features that were, in fact, clearly NOT promised for this update. Those same idiots tomorrow will make a thread demanding info on what’s being developed, presumably so they can once again get themselves all confused and over-hyped.
And ultimately, online life will go on. Tomorrow cities will be sieged, mobs will be farmed, and some new FOTM tactic will be discovered, with a slew of threads to follow about “lulz fix it NOW!!!” But for today, it’s 99% ForumFall, and all its jibbering wonder.

I doubt the FOTM will change. The change on Rays wasn’t significant enough. Although heals will play an even bigger important part of PvP.
But overall, nothing has really changed that “matters”.
Rabble rabble rabble!
This is how it goes in these games, no one is EVER happy, if they are, its for a very short time. Sometimes they problems and bugs in a game are bigger then the fix a developer thought would work. I don’t see anything wrong with having a giant aesthetic revamp, its a good thing. Darkfall definitely isn’t the prettiest game. This full revamp definitely has me looking at the game again. Fluff is never a bad thing, it’s sometimes what makes a game feel more like an MMO.
This is a known behaviour pattern of the subspecies of human known as HoMMO Sapiens. Upon announcement of a new patch they will speculate rampantly about what it will contain, ofetn trying to out do each other with the implausibility of their speculations.
Upon release of the patch notes, they will complain that the items that that they speculated about are not included and claim that they were promised them.
Upon release of the patch they will complain about something which barely affects gameplay for the majority of other players, either something being ‘nerfed’ or call the patch buggy, when the issue they are having is isolated to their machine and their machine only.
After a relatively short period of time, anything from a few days to a fortnight, they will have forgotten all about the patch and will be playing the game as if it had always been that way.
No-one knows the evolutionary reason for this strange behaviour as it does not seem to confer any competitive advantage to the individual, or indeed the sub-species as a whole.
