WoW: Still kinda bitter over those spacegoats

Random little thing; Stu has produced a table of characters from WoW, styled after the periodic table of elements. Honestly I don’t recognize half the names, but I did get a chuckle out of characters being alive, deceased, or undead.

Question; Why is Onyxia undead? Was her lore updated to acknowledge being killed a billion times during vanilla raiding, but coming back anyway? And if so, why aren’t all of the other dragons from raids in a similar status? Like Ysera is listed as alive, but I’ve killed that dragon personally.

  1. Caldazar says:

Nefarian raised her as an undead dragon in Cata and she is part of the last boss of the BwD raid

  2. Percy says:

Onyxia is undead because in the Cataclysm raid Blackwing Descent there was a boss fight against her and Nefarion. Apparently Nefarion recovered her corpse and rebuilt her. (The model is different as well).

As for how Nefarion comes back from BWL himself? I don’t know.

Also Ysera has never been a boss fight. You may be thinking of Vael or the four emerald dragons back in vanilla. Those were Lethon, Emeriss, Taerar, and Ysondre.

Some strange ones there. I thought Illidan was imprisoned, but he is listed as dead. Also, Onyxia should be dead since you kill her in BWD along with Nefarian. for that matter shouldn’t all the Scourge leaders be dead (maybe not Kel’Thuzad and I guess Bolvar is the new LK–but is he undead)?

    • invinciblegod says:

Illidan died as a raid boss in BC. Onyxia was “revived” as undead in WOTLK. Bolvar is not undead he is just fired.

  4. Anonymous says:

Neltharion (aka Deathwing) reanimated Nefarian from death and charged him to continue his work on the Chromatic Flight, which meant raising Onyxia from the dead aswell

WoW lore is made on the run to accomodate the game. Trying to make sense out of it is usually a futile attempt. Not unlike trying to combine all the Star Wars novels, movies and tv series into one cannon; that’s one of the reasons Disney is hitting the reset button of a lot of stuff.

WOW, disney, and star wars EU all in one post? Well played, maljjin.
