On a lighter note for today, here is a little peek into life with my fiancé Aria.
Turns out she likes FPS games and is an old-school CS player, so when she found out that I’ve been playing Bad Company 2 with the Inquisition crew, she wanted to jump in. Since I had two copies of the game (long story), I installed the second on her gaming PC and away we went. The sad truth is she did better than me on her first night (though in my defense I’m terribad at FPS games), and went a whole two hours straight without a single complaint (she usually taps out after about an hour).
With the first night being such a success (BC2 is a quality FPS), she actually asked if we could play the next night, a few times, and I was the one finally giving in and turning off the TV to go play. Inq was playing some squad deathmatch, and since most of the guys are above-average, she was dying more than the night before (I was doing my usual 4/10 kills/death ratio). As the vent chatter went on and the deaths piled up, the gamer rage in her built up, until it finally erupted due to a sniper headshot taking her down (thanks Ara). A Guild Wars manual went flying (we are playing that as well, more on that tomorrow), the headset hit the desk, and out of the room stomped Aria in classic ragequit fashion.
She is a keeper.

I was definitely caught off guard when she popped my dome from a mile away with a sniper rifle. She’s welcome back anytime. Maybe as she joins us in the journey to conquer our rage, she will feel comfortable enough to start talking in vent. Rumor has it there could be a vent recording from last night…

I cannot quite fathom that you can be affianced to someone and not know they are a former Counterstrike player. I think you two need a serious sit down to figure out if there are any more skeletons in the cupboard!
I must echo your praise of BBC2 though. I am thoroughly enjoying it even though I am pretty bad at it. Unlike Modern Warfare games which rubs your noobness in your face BBC2 treats inexperienced players more gently.
That is hilarious. I love BC2. My brother and I have gotten pretty good and can reliably notch positive KD ratio games. As Aria noticed, it can become extremely frustrating, though. Getting picked off by the same sniper multiple times in a row is enough to send me into a controller (I play on ps3) throwing rage, despite my being the most laid back, even-keel guy I know. Squad deathmatch in particular is an exercise in frustration and anxiety. Gotta have nerves of steel for that.
Anyway, definitely a keeper. What I wouldn’t give for a lovely lady who shares my affinity for blasting holes in the heads of virtual Russian soldiers.
Its hard to argue with a lady who throws out “so… want to go shot people in the head now?”. How can a man resist a line like that?

FPS’s make you always rage more than any pvp mmo. There is something about the fun of being a sniper, and seeing, and hearing people get so pissed off when they get headshot.
I think it just pisses people off because they can’t react…instantly dead.

It is my actual name. My parents were major hippies in the 70’s……Hey, what can I say? I play off emotion, and I was frustrated. And you were looking at my screen, therefore cheating, only adding to my anger. But either way, I’m pumped we are playing. There’s something truly rewarding about stalking someone without them knowing and taking them out before they even know what hit them…..
