Mortal Online went live today, and while I don’t have plans to play it, I’m certainly interested in seeing how it goes and what players think. Has anyone seen any good posts about how launch is going or some early reactions? Only thing I’ve seen is a few comments over at Massively, which indicate that so far the launch is going well.
And while I’ve taken the occasional shot at MO, it would be nice to see the game shaped up and gave DF some competition. Having someone chasing after you and pushing you to do better is ultimately a win for fans of both games (look back on when WAR launched and how WoW reacted).

Hardcore Casual 
I tried this out back a month or so ago, and enjoyed it, but realized that at this point in my life, open-world games just aren’t for me (kids tend to interfere with long play sessions, and if I’m going to do open-world full PvP, I’m gonna do it right!).
I tried heading over to their site to see the launch day buzz, but earlier today it was unavailable, and now it loads slow, it’s almost not worth it.
I have best wishes for the MO team, but if the performance today is any indication, I’m not optimistic. (And yes, I know their site being slow doesn’t necessarily equate to the game having issues, but if you can’t get a simple Web site to run well…well then, maybe you shouldn’t be creating massive PvP games…)
Despite their site being hit hard, indications are that the game itself is running smoothly and there are as of yet no significant bugs to report.
I tried it in beta, and couldn’t make any judgement of it because the hardware demands were so far beyond what my PC was capable of. Sure, it’s old, but it plays every other MMO I’ve thrown at it, at least reasonably. Mortal Online was in the seconds-per-frame territory, as opposed to frames-per-second.
I’m going to focus on MO this month. I still have my DF account, of course, but I want to see how MO develops.
I logged and to make 3 toons to hold the names I want. I don’t know wtf to do. I killed a rabbit at the end of beta, so that’s as far as I could get with the combat system. I couldn’t figure out how to loot it. Very rudimentary.
My DF toon is pretty raw as well, but at least I finally got my 2h and archery up to 75 a couple of days ago and found a sweet spot to farm hearts for my bloodcrafting.
I will see which game I wind up playing more by the end of this month.

Don’t go MO. And don’t read their forums to have an idea of the game because they just ban any user posting a constructive crictic. So that leaves only biased cheerful comments about an unfinished product which is just a scam. I got scammed myself, don’t get scammed like I did.
