I’d much rather pay $45 (or $90!) for a partial world revamp still using 2004-era midrange graphics that took 3ish years to develop, with the hopes that in another 3 (and another $90!), perhaps the rest of the world will also see a similar 2004-era update. But hey, playable goblins and um… stuff? Are they re-re-releasing Nax (this time 3 man) as well? That would be awesome!
Bhahaha, silly WoW-kiddies paying tons for nothing, L2MMO.
Edit: From the full patch notes, this made me lulz.
*The name of the expansion is not inspired in any way by the time it took to finally launch it.
**The simplicity in the naming of Fun Hulks, Fun Flags, Use Flags, flag types etc. is intentional. That, or we couldn’t find a better name for Middle Flags
holy schnykies
Obvious troll is obvious.
The Darkfall expansion sounds pretty substantive and I’m looking forward to hearing about your continued adventures.
I quite like paying for stuff that I really want. I’m very happy to have free stuff if I’m only mildly interested in it, but if I really want it I get more pleasure if there’s a payment. Makes it seem more “mine”, somehow.
I expect there’s some psychological explanation, or maybe it’s just cultural.
I won’t be paying for Cataclysm, though. Too much else to do, wouldn’t get the use out of it. I’ll enjoy the free benefit of having the MMOs I’m playing emptied of all but the people who actually want to be playing them, though.
‘Hellfreeze’…….. sounds epic!
/sarcasm off
Im getting pked off of this bloody torrent!
Well, can’t figure out a way to do a second trial. Launch the new trial account, and it just says “too many trials” even after reinstalling.
Anyone have a way around this?
As I mentionned on ForumFall, this expac is a big let down for me. I was expecting more changes or simple tweaks to more “important” features, but none were even adressed. Also, what happened to the Environmental Sound System? Thought it was supposed to be added in this expac?
We’ll see how it goes, but as time goes, the more DarkFall seems to be moving out of my list of “MMOs with Potential” (which is entirely subjective, I know, sue me).
Yo, someone play this with me please, haha. I wanna play this so bad lol
Finally, updating!
I really like all the PvE/sandbox stuff being added like the city dungeons, new mobs, mob AI revamps with leveling etc., treasure maps, (not a big fan of the fun hulks but i still see it as “beefing up” the sand in the box)etc. To me that’s what the game has really seemed to be lacking, and if they can continue to beef up the non-PvP aspects of the game along with the PvP stuff, i will eventually have to break down and resub even though i’ll only have a couple hours/week to play.
Anyway, keep patches like this going, add in more PvE content, hopefully some class specialization stuff, and beef up the faction “ruleset” to make factions/ganking and all that stuff matter and have consequences and this game will continue to grow subs and could end up being really, really special down the road.
Monsters level for killing players. I haven’t seen that done since AC1.
Don’t the mobs in Guild Wars level up for killing players, too? I think that’s the only way to get the crazy achievement in that game for not leaving the Pre-Searing Ascalon before max level.
Yes they do, although they go back to their starting level when they die.
Here’s to hoping that a dozen new monster models, and the shuffling of monster camps will keep players interested until the Darkfall 2010 expansion next summer. If nothing else, one could ride around in a Fun Hulk looking at new textures and animations I guess. Maybe circle around a Use Flag.
I will be downloading this tonight! I have needed a reason to get back in and this looks like it might be it.
I kind of wish there was less fluff and more actual content talked about, but I guess we will see once I get back in.
I think a lot of people are selling some stuff short based on an initial reaction vs what it COULD be. That’s the whole point of a more open-ended game; you give the players the tools they need, and if the player community is up to par, they do some great stuff with the tools. Some of the items in this patch don’t look that amazing at first glance, but lets see in a few months what players do with them.
Holy crap, started my download about 5 hours ago and I hear I’m only at 36%.
I’m hoping the newb dungeons in the capitol cities end up being good fun. Would be cool if they were all connected kinda like DF or POC or Laby in DAoC, would be nice to find someone I stood a chance against to PvP with. Penif
hahaha Im at 88%
h4x!
