Supreme Cream! vs. Red Scorpion

Brilliant war, with the result in the balance right until the end (literally, according to the log seven attacks were completed after time ran out!) The clans were equal in strength – we edged them in average TH level, while they were slightly ahead in experience level.

At first glance it’s not clear how we gained the upper hand – they scored more 3-stars at a slightly higher percentage. We just about beat them at TH8, but their top level scored more 3-stars at a higher percentage. As always, the stars left behind by TH level shows the full picture

So even though they scored more 3-stars at the top, they also left more stars behind – 16 versus our 13 – which was also the winning margin. The reason for this is that they attacked down quite a bit, especially towards the latter half of the war. The downside of attacking down is that you are bound to leave stars at the top. However, I do think we can be a bit more clever about our final attacks. If there is less than an hour left in a close war, it’s better to attack way down and get a star than attack the kind of bases you’ll normally target.

A big improvement for us was the number of stars against top bases. Our TH9’s scored a number of 2-stars against their TH9’s with dragon attacks. I don’t know the likelihood of success for such attacks, but if we can consistently get 2-stars against TH9’s in this way, it will help a lot in wars going forward.

Also, it seems as if easy wars are not such a frequent occurrence at higher levels. Before, we often had runs of up to five easy wars in a row. Nowadays we maybe get one in five. I believe this is a good thing, since it forces us to improve and refine our strategies. However, we can’t expect to keep winning at an 80% ratio like before. Going forward I think we should at least win more than we lose, and should try to maintain a 65% win ratio.

I felt really bad not being able to get my second attack in. The war usually finishes around 5:30 in the UK on a Monday so I need to prep my army at work and then jump on it when I get home. Work was really busy though and I didn’t even get to stop for lunch longer than to stuff a sandwich in my face, had commitments right as I got home as well.

In future I am just going to try and get both attacks in the night before.

    found this btw https://www.reddit.com/r/clashofclansmu/comments/2mcxx5/common_war_bases/

shows how to attack some common th9 bases, could be handy for them higher stars

That’s a great link Jonneh – I’m probably gonna spend too much time going over all those vids!
