Curt Schilling on ‘The Instance’ podcast.

The Instance, which is always worth listening to anyway, stepped it up a notch with this show and featured a lengthy interview with Curt Schilling. Along with a ton of WoW talk, they go into general game design, a bit about Warhammer Online, and about 38 Studios, Curt’s own game development studio currently working on a big budget fantasy MMO (which is based very close to where I live and should hire me).

Be sure to check it out, even if you are not a huge baseball fan.

    Hmm. 38 Studios.

The company is founded by a baseball player with no experience running a game studio. They are working on an original IP. They have R A Salvatoe (wizards of the coast writer) and Todd McFarlane (Spawn) working on the project. They have a license for BigWorld and the Unreal 3 engine.

So, we end up with what? An MMOFPS with a fantasy world setting? Another quickly thrown together RMT game? I’m frightened already.

They have a cool web site though. http://www.38studios.com/

Don’t mouse-over the green monster. Hehehehe.

Well Curt has people with a lot of experience doing the actual managing of the studio. He is more the venture capital for it, as well as a figurehead of sorts.

While not much is know, we do know the game will be a fairly traditional fantasy MMO, especially considering Curt was a huge EQ and now WoW player.

Agree on the website, very cool looking.
