300m buys you a thesaurus!

INNOVATION! (By means of a Paragus remark prior, but this truly merits its own editorial*) *CwutIdidthur?

Seems a loaded failtrain has pulled into the station

A lot of great stuff floating around today. First is this comment from Rammstein, responding to Azuriel yesterday, related to his and Blizzard’s claim that Cata failed because it was too hard: Anything that Chilton says to the New York … Continue reading

Getting back to the source

Jester has a post up about how Sovereignty works in EVE, and how the game might benefit from borrowing some ideas from Perpetuum in that area. A good read as always, and it brings up a larger point: competition amongst … Continue reading

I find it really sad how the dominance of World of Warcraft has led so many people to believe that the way WoW does it is the only possible way to make a MMORPG.

I still don’t have an answer for how SWTOR will do. But increasingly I think the playerbase for MMOs won’t ever let another game do a WoW, they just have lost the patience we used to have for long term … Continue reading

SW:TOR – Unreal

This can’t be real life right? First they LotRO us with “number of character created” (how many people are sitting on 8 character to reserve Hannn Solololo?), Xfire us with “hours played” (I wonder if people play a game more … Continue reading

Stealing a blog post idea from TAGN today (not that he invented it, but reading his sparked mine, so yea). MMOs in 2012. EVE: Assuming the server is still up (bhahaha), I’ll be playing EVE. My last go with the … Continue reading

SW:TOR – How is the end-game?

Random thought: What if the end-game in SW:TOR is awesome? Most people right now are talking about the leveling experience in SW. The pace, the voice, the story, the mechanics, etc. And rightfully so in many ways. Pre-release, almost all … Continue reading

Life after the AAA MMO

Last week I wrote about SW:TOR being a bad business deal (something I also stated more than a year go). Today I want to continue that line of thought, focusing on why I want current-day AAA MMOs to go the … Continue reading

Why SW:TOR is a big bad deal

Note: If you read blogs in absolutes, this post is not going to work for you. The discussion around SW costing 300m or not, whether selling 4m box copies puts it in the black, or why anyone should care, is … Continue reading

A whole two days!?!?

BioWare gives SW players a two day grace period. Game costs 300m+ to make. Probably another 300m+ spent in marketing hype. Another $30 or so spend on soon-to-be-regrettable tattoos (Hey cool tattoo, what is it? Oh this, it’s the logo from … Continue reading
